This ornate, 80 room mansion was built in the 1860s by William Ralston, founder of the Bank of California. One of the Peninsula’s grandest palaces, the restored mansion features a hall of mirrors, a grand staircase, crystal chandeliers, a ballroom and an impressive collection of 19th Century antiques. Docent-led tours are offered Monday through Friday, 9:00AM-3:00PM by appointment. The Mansion and Ralston Lawn are available for Social and Wedding Celebrations or corporate gathering and events. Belmont Historical Society Museum

Located at the Twin Pines Art Center, the Belmont Historical Society Museum highlights the history of Belmont. Its one-room gallery exhibits a permanent exhibit of 19th Century pioneer memorabilia and Native American artifacts. Changing exhibits of photographs are also featured. Open the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10:00AM-4:00PM.
The Belmont Plaza Shopping Center located north of Ralston Avenue on El Camino Real has a wonderful variety of retail stores, services and eating places. Carlmont Village Shopping Center located on Alameda de Las Pulgas at Ralston was built in 1957/59 and has been expanded several times over the years. The center has retained its quaint village atmosphere with 31 stores and services and 19 professional offices.
